Overview
Lecturer - Senior Lecturer (ILP Coordinator) - Port Macquarie at UNSW. Employment type: part-time (14 hours a week). Duration: fixed term until 30 June 2026 (with possibility of renewal). Remuneration: competitive remuneration based on Academic Level B or Academic Level C, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.
Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.
Location
UNSW Rural (Port Macquarie campus). UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at rural clinical campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery and supports students with closer interaction with clinicians and academics.
Role details
In the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, ILP Coordinator, Rural you will drive educational excellence in rural medical education with a focus on developing and maintaining the Independent Learning Project (ILP) program, ensuring alignment with goals to introduce undergraduate medical students to research through supervised projects.»
Reporting: The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the identified campus with a dotted reporting line to the Clinical Director Rural, ILP and Research Collaboration. No direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate, support and guide ILP for students, including supervision, teaching and mentoring, reviews, theses, presentations, coursework and final reports.
* Provide support in local hospital and clinical environments for ILP and rural research projects, including design, governance, development of research skills, and ethics applications and approvals.
* Engage with the PHN, AMS and other local health and community networks; build productive relationships and partnerships; participate in professional activities and identify and submit funding opportunities where appropriate.
* Contribute to the RHMT Research Plan, rural research framework, workforce retention strategies, methodologies, data collection and analysis.
* Teach and mentor undergraduate students with a focus on rurally focused health and research projects.
Senior Lecturer (Level C) adds:
* High-level coordination and administration within the program; provide expert advice to students and staff on course-related matters.
* Mentor students and supervisors to design research studies, prepare ethics applications, select analyses and prepare for publication.
* Demonstrate expertise in a relevant sub-disciplinary area, including module convenorship and rurally based research including publications, ethics, and grants.
Qualifications
* Fellow of a Specialist Medical College or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field with experience working in a medical/health environment, or equivalent professional experience.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students; demonstrated commitment to rurally focused health and research projects.
