Civils Drainage Engineer – Bradford
Lanes Group is seeking a Civils Drainage Engineer to join our team in Bradford, Yorkshire. The role will support a major contract with Yorkshire Water, maintaining their wastewater network over a five‑year period.
Location: Bradford, Yorkshire
Hours: 50 hours per week (Mon‑Fri, 7am‑5pm with a paid lunch). Overtime available at time and a half.
Salary: To be discussed.
Responsibilities
* Carry out groundwork tasks: digging trenches, excavations, laying pipes, spot repairs and surface preparation.
* Install and maintain over‑pumping systems and ensure safe excavations with ground support.
* Update and complete site documentation using electronic tablet.
* Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
* Perform daily vehicle checks and maintenance for roadworthiness.
* Ensure compliance with approved method statements, health and safety regulations, and report any issues.
* Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
* Wear and maintain PPE at all times.
* Ensure sites are live and highways permits updated to avoid penalties.
* Read and understand drainage plans.
* Record photographic evidence of jobs performed.
Experience & Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence (required).
* Civils background ideally from utilities.
* Experience with NPORS, banksman, manual handling, emergency first aid, NRSWA, EUSR national water hygiene, asbestos awareness, CPC driver training (HGV only), slinger and signaller, abrasive wheels, calm water, EUSR safe dig – Cat & Genny, EUSR water shea, face fit tested – FFP3, dumper wheeled forward tipping, EUSR shuttering & shoring – deep excavation, excavator above 10t – tracked, excavator below 10t – tracked, NRSWA operative units (LA,01‑06), Sygma solutions, confined spaces, SSSTS or SMSTS, excavator used as crane lifting operations.
