Multi-Skilled Engineer
Location: Peterborough
Shift Pattern: Panama Shift Pattern – 2’s & 3’s, rotating days and nights (12-hour shifts)
Salary: Circa £58,000 (£51,000 basic + £7,000 shift allowance)
Contract: Temporary, Temp-to-Perm or Permanent opportunities available

We are a well-established food manufacturing business based in Peterborough, operating a highly automated production facility supplying major global brands within the food industry.

The Role
We are looking for a Multi‑Skilled Engineer to join our engineering team supporting a highly automated manufacturing facility. Reporting into the Senior Engineering team, you will work across the factory carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance to minimise downtime and support production efficiency.
This is a hands‑on role where you will spend approximately 75–80% of your time on the factory floor working directly with machinery and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs
* Fault find on electrical and mechanical systems
* Support continuous improvement activities across the site
* Work on a variety of automated production and packaging machinery
* Diagnose faults on PLC and SCADA-controlled systems
* Ensure engineering work is completed safely and in line with food manufacturing standards
* Collaborate with production teams and contractors to maintain operational performance
* Contribute to improving reliability and reducing reactive maintenance levels
About You
We are looking for engineers who are:
* Apprentice trained or hold recognised engineering qualifications
* Multi‑skilled with both electrical and mechanical experience
* Experienced in fault finding within a manufacturing environment
* Familiar with PLCs (ideally Rockwell and SCADA but no essential)
* Ideally from a food manufacturing or automated manufacturing background
* Proactive, team‑oriented and safety conscious
Working Environment
* Rotating Panama shift pattern covering days and nights
* Panama Shift Pattern – 2’s & 3’s rotation allowing engineers to work across different teams and production areas
* Modern automated facility with some legacy machinery requiring mechanical expertise
* Some areas require hearing protection due to machinery noise levels
