Our client is an innovative, market-leading designer and supplier of advanced sonar technologies used across the global marine sector. Theyre seeking a talented engineer to join their tight-knit electronics team, working on cutting-edge signal and data processing systems that power some of the worlds most sophisticated sonar products.
The Role As an Electronic Hardware Engineer, youll play a key role in designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic systems. Youll work across the full product lifecycle from concept and design to production and ongoing support collaborating closely with other hardware and systems engineers to turn requirements into high-performance, reliable hardware.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and schematic capture of analogue and digital hardware
PCB layout for complex multi-layer boards
Test and fault-finding of electronic hardware
Firmware and FPGA design
Development of test processes, equipment, and validation systems
Through-life support, maintenance, and obsolescence management
Documentation and design verification
About You Youll be an engineer with a passion for electronic design, curious about adjacent engineering disciplines, and eager to grow your expertise in a supportive environment.
Essential skills and experience:
Degree (2:1 or above) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Strong electronic design skills
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
A collaborative, proactive approach and desire to learn
Desirable experience:
Masters degree in a related field
FPGA design (VHDL) using Intel Quartus Prime or similar tools
Analogue circuit design and signal processing
PCB design using Altium Designer
Experience with interfaces such as Ethernet, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C
Embedded software development in C/C++
Experience transitioning designs to production and implementing Design for Test (DFT) principles
