Job Summary
Provide high-quality, patient-centred care across a wide range of clinical services, supporting both patients and the wider clinical team. Your work will include chronic disease management, routine vaccinations, cervical screening, and minor procedures, with a focus on infection prevention, record keeping, and quality improvement.
Job Responsibilities
* Deliver holistic patient care, including chronic disease management for asthma, COPD and diabetes, and opportunistic assessments.
* Carry out cervical cytology (smears) and manage returns.
* Perform routine swabs, wound care, sutures, clip removal, venepuncture and minor illness assessment.
* Administer childhood, adult, catch‑up and travel vaccinations, and provide travel health advice.
* Conduct contraceptive and health checks, offering lifestyle advice and facilitating behaviour change.
* Support minor procedures and assist with minor surgery.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with NMC guidance.
* Ensure infection prevention and control, including PPE management, hand hygiene and sterile environments.
* Monitor and maintain clinical stock and equipment, including refrigeration and emergency supplies.
* Contribute to practice audit, quality improvement and compliance with QOF standards.
* Participate in training, clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
Essential Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development and NMC revalidation compliance.
* Safeguarding Level 3 training (Adults & Children).
Desirable Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualifications in chronic disease management, minor illness or sexual/reproductive health.
* Training in immunisation, travel health or wound management.
* Teaching, mentoring or supervisory experience.
Essential Experience
* Experience working as a registered nurse in primary care or a comparable healthcare setting.
* Delivery of clinical assessments, long‑term condition management, vaccinations and minor procedures.
* Experience in accurate record keeping, clinical governance and quality improvement.
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience
* Experience in cervical cytology, travel health consultations, minor surgery support or chronic disease clinics.
* Familiarity with EMIS or other electronic patient record systems.
* Involvement in service development, audit or clinical education.
