The purpose of the Development and Impact Manager role is to drive investment into arts, culture and heritage across Westmorland and Furness — supporting creative ambition through strategic fundraising, impact measurement and meaningful community engagement. You will play a vital role in developing and delivering large-scale funding applications to national bodies such as Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you’ll lead on creating strategies for income generation, research, and evaluation — ensuring the impact of cultural and heritage activity is clearly demonstrated and used to inform future investment. This post will suit someone with a strategic mindset, a strong understanding of the funding landscape, and a passion for using data and learning to champion arts and culture as a driver for community wellbeing, inclusion, and place-based transformation. Who we are looking for… A collaborative and experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of securing significant investment for cultural or charitable initiatives. You’ll understand how to develop and deliver impactful funding strategies, create compelling applications, and design robust evaluation frameworks. Ideally, you’ll bring experience of working across sectors, from local government to grassroots community organisations, with an ability to translate vision into funded programmes. A strong communicator and strategic thinker, you’ll champion community voice and help shape a sustainable future for arts, culture and heritage in Westmorland and Furness. What can we offer you! Working at Westmorland and Furness Council you will receive a variety of benefits, including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and other various perks and discounts schemes.
