Risk Assessment Officer - Passenger Transport Services
Hours: 30 per week
Contract: Until March 2026
Location: Hybrid (initially office-based in Leicestershire for induction, then flexible working)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Assessment Officer to join a Passenger Transport Services team within a respected public sector organisation. This post has become available due to retirement and a wider service restructure, and the team is keen to appoint as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of passenger transport services, including support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete and review individual transport risk assessments for SEND pupils
2. Assess eligibility for home-to-school transport in line with policy
3. Communicate assessment outcomes to parents, carers, schools, and internal teams
4. Support the Council’s transport appeals process and prepare related reports
5. Contribute to the annual review and reallocation of transport services
6. Maintain accurate records and data to support service performance
7. Liaise with colleagues across departments to resolve operational issues and promote health and safety best practice
Skills & Experience Required
8. Strong communication and report-writing skills
9. Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
10. Experience gathering and analysing information from multiple sources
11. Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems
12. Understanding of SEND and associated transport needs (desirable)
13. Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines under pressure
