About the Setting
This specialist provision is built around a trauma-informed, child-centred ethos, placing strong emphasis on relationships, consistency and emotional wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured and predictable environment where pupils feel secure enough to engage in learning.
The approach focuses on:
Building trust and positive relationships
Understanding behaviour as communication
Supporting emotional regulation and social development
Delivering a personalised and flexible curriculum
The Pupils
You will be supporting children and young people across primary and secondary age ranges, all of whom have a range of additional needs and often complex backgrounds.
Pupils may:
Have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
Have diagnoses such as ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and/or ADHD
Display behaviours that can be challenging, including dysregulation, verbal outbursts, or disengagement
Have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or disrupted education
Be working below age-related expectations academicallyStrong, consistent support and a calm, empathetic approach are key to helping these pupils succeed.
The Role
As a Learning Support Worker, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
Help pupils access learning both inside and outside the classroom
Support behaviour through de-escalation and positive strategies
Build meaningful relationships that promote trust and engagement
Work closely with teaching staff and wider professionalsWhat We're Looking For
Working with children and young people can be both challenging and rewarding!
A good sense of humour and open mindset are really valuable. You will also need:
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (education, youth/social work, or similar)
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
Strong communication and teamwork skills
