As a support worker for Coventry City Council, you will be part of a great organisation who put people at the heart of everything they do. You will be joining as a support worker on an adhoc basis, meaning you can pick hours to work around your othermitments.
Your new role
To provide high-quality support and enablement, ensuring individuals' needs are met through promoting independence and personalised approaches in a safe, respectful, and dignified manner. This role involves giving people choice and control over the services they use and ensuring the best possible oues for those who use Adult Social Care Services. All support must be delivered inpliance with relevant social care legislation, the Council's values, policies, practices, and the CQC Essential Standards for Quality and Safety.
Responsibilities
As a support worker, you will promote service users' rights, dignity, and empowerment. In addition, you will respect emotional wellbeing and obtain consent for care, creating opportunities for individuals to achieve desired oues. Supporting physical, emotional, social, and intellectual wellbeing is also important in this role.
You will need to meet practical and personal care needs, including dietary support. Assisting with prescribed medicine administration is required and adhering to health and safety requirements to make sure cleanliness is maintained.
It is vital to follow care plans and keep accurate records for service users and report concerns when necessary. You will be collaborating with professionals, carers, and relatives whilst contributing positively to the team. There is updated training that you must attend as personal development is something that the council focusses on.
What you'll need to succeed
1. At least 6 months experience within a Social Care role
2. Level 2 in Health and Social Care or Adult care
3. Verbal and written English; basic maths skills.
4. Enhanced DBS with adult's barred list (Hays can request a new DBS)
5. Able to obtain employment references from the past 2 years
6. Understanding of the responsibilities of a Support Worker
7. A passion for caring for individuals and making an impact on people's lives!
