Job description The SHEQ role within the manufacturing organisation at Ibstock Sittingbourne is expected to co-ordinate and drive the effort to create a Safe Production/Logistics workplace through improving behavioural safety and systems.

Reporting to the Factory Manager the person will be a self-driven organised individual with proven administration experience with the flexibility to cover the Production Co-ordinator role when required.
Future development for the role will be based upon the individual but may include the role of site safety champion and related training.
Specific responsibilities include:
Influence safe employee and leadership behaviors through audits, inspections, health and safety surveys and behavioral observation
Collaborating with all Business stakeholders to ensure our Safety Health & Environment Strategy is delivered and we comply with all relevant legislation at all times
Ensuring all incidents and non-compliance are accurately recorded on the SHE management system. Root cause analysis identification and implementation of corrective actions to facilitate effective incident closure. Ensuring short-term containment and long-term solutions are implemented to prevent re occurrence.
Where required act as the primary point of contact for the SHE advisor for any site specific matters.
To facilitate the site in their respective area to develop risk assessments, SSOPs and completion of any other relevant procedures.
Management of the sites tier boards ensuring they are up to date and accurate information is displayed.
Communication and training delivered through the use of Tool Box Talks, regular meetings, best practice and safety alerts.
Ensure all H&S records are stored, maintained and reviewed in line with Ibstock PLC requirements.
Proactively collating and analysing data and using problem solving tools to formulate action plans that will deliver reduced risks of injury and illness to employees and workers
Identifying areas of best practice on sites and working closely with the SHE advisors to cascade information throughout the group
Providing accurate, timely and technical advice to colleagues in resolving issues in H&S and reducing environmental impact
Supporting Factory Management Teams on the formulation of site specific SHE action plans and supporting and auditing progress to ensure they are delivered
Measuring and reporting improvements to the Safety Health & Environment Management Systems
Facilitating the review of any site specific procedures and assessments in line with group SHE requirements
Continuous improvement of the site H&S performance demonstrating through accurate measurement and monitoring of specific KPIs
Implementing new initiatives introduced by the group H&S department as per the H&S roadmap.
Facilitating H&S committees on site in line with the divisional communications matrix with effective roll out and monitoring of minutes and action plans
Making arrangements to complete occupational health monitoring (including noise, air contamination and Hand Arm Vibration-HAV) in line with our procedures.
Ensure compliance to any environmental permits or licenses issued by enforcing authorities

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
NEBOSH General Certificate
IEMA Foundation course in Environmental Management (Desired)
Membership of IOSH (Desired)
Excellent communication skills including the delivery of training packages to an audience
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
Numerate and literate
An effective collaborator able to influence a wide cross section of people through passion and encouragement to stop and consider safer ways of working
