This is a key position, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a number of site locations within a specified region. To carry out planned and reactive maintenance and repairs to a range of electrical, mechanical and building assets in ASDA stores in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the specified Company Health and Safety procedures.
Responsibilities
* Represent the company in a professional manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with City and ASDA colleagues.
* Complete all necessary PPMs and ensure all PPM remedial tasks are accurately logged and actioned, ensuring legal compliance.
* Supervise the Maintenance Assistant (MA) and provide regular coaching to perform their role in line with company processes.
* Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk; assess job requirements and carry out repairs as required.
* Prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and contract SLAs.
* Communicate with ASDA Store Management teams and RES regarding repair and maintenance issues affecting store operations.
* Carry out surveys and complete reports as required; carry out alterations and installations within technical competence and current specifications.
* Complete general repairs and maintenance to ASDA store sites as designated by the RES (e.g., building fabric and surfaces).
* Assist other MSTs in other Stores/Regions when requested by the RES.
* Recruit and select suitably qualified and experienced MA to ensure continuous service delivery in stores, following company processes and policies in recruitment.
* Maintain accurate administration, including City applications, live job logging and effective use of time.
* Attend training courses as necessary and keep personal job skills aligned with technical developments (which may include overnight stays).
* Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy at all times and ensure current compliance documentation for allocated tasks is completed to required quality standards.
* Ensure team attendance and completion of mandatory training, including induction programmes and eLearning modules within required timescales.
* Provide on-the-job coaching and support to the team to meet required standards; deliver technical coaching solutions as needed.
* Complete induction and training administration, including probationary reviews, to ensure the team is fully competent and aware of performance.
* Participate in an Out of Hours standby rota (minimum 1 week in 4) and complete general repairs to plumbing systems, drainage, and basic electrical/electronic issues during standby.
* Carry out first looks for equipment such as Fire and Security, HVAC, electrical and general issues.
* Comply with other reasonable requests or instructions from the RES or City Management Team.
* Financial Responsibility: N/A
* People Responsibility: Interview, recruit, oversee and manage the Maintenance Assistant/Mobile Maintenance Assistant and Multi-site Maintenance Assistant for the stores they cover; update Cascade, manage holidays and absence.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: GCSE Standard; C&G 2382 (18th edition) Level 3 core Electrical qualification, examples: C&G2330, C&G2365 (with relevant experience), C&G2365; City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection; time served in electrical discipline or relevant industry experience.
* Desirable: Familiarity with completion of electrical certification.
Technical Knowledge and Behaviours
* Specific Knowledge: 3 phase electrics and its applications.
* Demonstrated Behaviours: Ability to manage and support team members; good written and verbal communication; helpful/friendly manner; customer-focused; self-motivated.
Specialist Requirements
* Essential: Ability to maintain/repair a range of electrical and mechanical equipment (e.g., fans, pumps, compressors) to recognised standards; general plumbing and building experience; ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work at heights; current driving licence; ability to complete standard maintenance/repair of electrical/electronic equipment and appliances; willingness to work flexible hours.
