National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Site Supervisor to join our Operations team. As a Site Supervisor you will play a key role in delivering major maintenance and minor improvement schemes across the Midlands region. You will report directly to the Construction Assurance Manager and undertake construction surveillance and assurance inspections to verify the quality of works undertaken by external contractors.
Key working conditions: you will likely work predominantly unsociable hours, including nights and weekends, for which a paid overtime and/or out‑of‑hours allowance will be provided. The role is based at our Nottingham office and requires you to drive as part of the job; holding no more than 3 points on your licence is mandatory.
Job Responsibilities
 * Assure the completion of planned works to agreed standards and raise any concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager in line with governance agreements.
 * Ensure construction works comply with CDM regulations, HSE legislation, environmental legislation and Chapter 8 requirements, and that Principal Contractor duties are properly discharged.
 * Provide regular and timely feedback on scheme progress, risks, early warnings and design-related issues, acting as the first point of escalation for on-site issues.
 * Act as liaison between key supply chain partners and coordinate the delivery programme, ensuring buildability reviews are carried out.
 * Represent National Highways on construction and maintenance sites, assuring supplier performance and escalating any concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager or Construction Manager as required.
About You
 * Proven highway/structures and maintenance/construction experience; experience on high-speed trunk roads or motorways is essential.
 * Good understanding of DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8 and CDM regulations.
 * CSCS card holder, SSSTS or SMSTS certificate is essential.
 * Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, responding to management guidance and support.
 * Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
