Job overview
We are seeking high-quality Theatre Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners to join our expanding team. The Westmorland General Hospital Theatres in Kendal are undergoing upgrades to enhance our facilities. We welcome applications from practitioners interested in working within either the Scrub or Anaesthetics and Recovery teams. Our specialties include Orthopaedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, General, Breast surgery, Max-Fax, Gynae, and ENT.
Main duties of the job
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team across the patient pathway.
* Adhere to NHS and regulatory body standards, integrating these into practice.
* Participate in Clinical Governance, including auditing and implementing findings.
* Mentor or assess junior and unqualified staff.
* Lead shifts or manage teams in the absence of the Ward/Dept Manager.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Registered Nurse or ODP (First level)
* Teaching/mentoring qualification D32/D33 or equivalent (or willingness to undertake)
* Recognised Anaesthetic Qualification for those in Anaesthetic duties
* Post-registration clinical course relevant to the area
* E.C.D.L or equivalent
Experience
* Recent professional development in relevant clinical specialty
* Experience in the designated area
* Mentoring and assessing junior/unqualified staff
* Effective communication with patients, overcoming barriers due to anxiety or disability
* Leadership experience, able to work autonomously and communicate concerns appropriately
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills, persuasive and reassuring
* Broad knowledge of theatre procedures and instrumentation
* Up-to-date professional knowledge
* Advanced clinical skills training
* Leadership and delegation skills
* Teamwork skills
