Project Planner - Energy role at Turner & Townsend. This position is part of the Energy & Natural Resources division supporting a nuclear client during a period of growth. Travel/onsite requirements may apply as described in the original posting.
Job Description
Due to increased opportunities and demand in the Energy & Natural Resources division, the team is recruiting a Project Planner to join a diverse and supportive team. The successful candidate will be present in the client office in Bridgewater for three days per week.
Main purpose of role
A Planner will be responsible for work packages and projects of varying size and complexity. They will lead planning for multiple non-related projects or a single highly complex project within the programme of works, managing time, cost, risk, change, reporting and scope. The goal is to create and maintain robust schedules that provide accurate data to drive management decisions and ensure delivery to time and cost targets and quality standards.
Key Accountabilities
* Take the lead on planning, supporting more junior planning professionals on novel, high value projects or programmes.
* Creation, development and maintenance of project schedules aligned with project requirements on complex, risk managed projects or programmes.
* Adherence to NEC or FIDIC contract processes for management of schedule data and submissions.
* Assist the project team to develop status reports to keep management informed on project progress.
* Oversee day-to-day management, staffing and the implementation of Integrated Project Controls standards and processes.
* Reduce uncertainty, improve efficiency and clarify project objectives.
* Define scope of work with the project team to develop/update detailed schedules, cost information and variances from original schedule.
* Assist project managers to schedule work and coordinate assignments.
* Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas.
* Analyze float, critical path and constraints to understand effects of approved changes or slippages and recommend recovery actions.
* Undertake project progress reviews and consolidate multiple project schedules into an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
* Monitor project managers' reporting and summarize progress across all projects; track KPIs and EVM periodically.
* Provide functional management of planning personnel, including mentoring and coaching.
Qualifications
You have professional Project Controls experience specialising in Planning & Scheduling across one or more sectors throughout the project lifecycle. Nuclear experience is desirable but not required. Strong knowledge of Primavera (P6) and other planning/resourcing software is expected, with ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
You will be a strong communicator with leadership capabilities, able to influence, motivate, coach and develop a team while fostering an inclusive environment. You should promote empowerment and contribution and have a passion to build a community beyond your delivery role.
You also:
* Will be able to obtain BPSS level security clearance.
* Are a member of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
* Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Can make risk-based decisions where parameters are unclear.
* Have strong leadership and stakeholder management experience.
* Can navigate and defuse conflict situations.
* Have a desire to work within the nuclear sector.
