Overview
Volunteer Trustee with HR (Generalist, EDI, L&D/Training) Expertise wanted for Citizens Advice Stroud & Cotswold Districts. We are a local charity that provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice to those in need, supporting and guiding individuals on a wide range of issues to help them navigate challenges and make informed decisions.
We have a vacancy on our Board for a Trustee who can make a positive impact, bringing valuable skills, insights and experience to the organisation while helping the local community receive the advice they need now and in the future. We are seeking a professional with related experience within HR, EDI and Training/L&D. Previous Board and governance experience is welcomed but not essential, as induction and ongoing training are provided for all Trustees.

We welcome applications from individuals from communities of colour, disabled people, those with mental health or physical conditions, LGBTQIA+ people and diverse gender identities, as well as applicants from all socioeconomic backgrounds, including those with lived experience of poverty or low income. We also welcome younger community members and those who have accessed Citizens Advice services.
Board meetings are quarterly and can be online via Teams or in person in Cirencester or Stroud. Attendance at the AGM and a one-day strategic planning meeting is required. The total time commitment is approximately one day per month. Trustees are encouraged to join a sub-committee and participate in other projects, which may involve additional time from time to time.
Responsibilities
* Attend quarterly board meetings (online or in person) in Cirencester or Stroud, plus AGM and a one-day strategic planning meeting.
* Contribute to organisation strategy, governance, and oversight to ensure high-quality advice services.
* Join and participate in sub-committees and other projects as needed, with occasional additional time.
Qualifications and skills
* Experience in HR, EDI and Training/L&D (Generalist, EDI, L&D/Training).
* Previous board and governance experience is welcomed but not essential; induction and ongoing training provided.
* Commitment to diversity and inclusion and alignment with the organisation’s values.
