Age UK Plymouth exists to care for and work with older people, those living with dementia and their carers in and around the City of Plymouth to improve their quality of life through the promotion of choice, opportunity and independence.
The Role
We are searching for passionate and caring volunteers to join our Community Activities provision.
We offer activities within our community, covering settings such as Care Homes and offer a range of activities, mentally stimulating activities, white board activities, indoor sports, and much more. In the role you will be interacting with individuals, help and support the Support & Activity Worker, assist in setting up the room, and encourage participation at a level that best suits the individual and their needs.
Main Duties:
· Develop relationships with individuals, their Carers where the case may be, and staff throughout the organisation to whom you are supporting delivery of the session to.
· To always pay attention to the safety and security of individuals ensuring that any issues are reported to the Support & Activity Worker in a timely fashion.
· Promote a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, ensure individuals, their Carers where the case may be and staff are treated with dignity and respect.
· Assist with facilitating the set-up of the service when required.
· Interact with individuals, help and support the Support & Activity Worker, and assist in the setting up of the room.
· To facilitate activities in support of individuals with cognitive impairment.
· To encouraging individuals to interact within sessions.
· To comply with the Charity's policies and procedures.
· To represent the Charity in a promoting its mission and initiatives.
· To undertake other ad-hoc duties as and when requested.

Time Commitment:
Tuesday and/or Thursday 13:00-16:00
