Position: Administrative Officer
Contract: Until March 2026
Salary: £14.75 per hour
Location: South London (Wandsworth)
This is a temporary contract role until March 2026 for an Admin Officer with an immediate start date (subject to compliance), lasting approximately 10 months with a possibility of extension. The role offers a 5-day workweek in a London location.
Background
Effective administrative staff with excellent customer service skills are vital for the operation of Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS). HMCTS employs most of its staff in administrative roles, embracing lean principles and continuous improvement to deliver high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings, and meetings.
* Producing court/tribunal documents.
* General photocopying and filing.
* Creating and updating records on in-house systems and data input.
* Post opening and dispatch.
* Booking and preparing meeting rooms, supporting training and group activities.
* Drafting standard letters, correspondence, minutes, reports, etc.
* Clerking civil and family courts, tribunals, and hearings.
* Supporting court users, scheduling, serving court documents, executing warrants, collecting fines and fees.
* Handling enquiries face-to-face, written, and via telephone.
* Participating in team meetings and problem-solving activities.
* Undertaking ad hoc roles such as Jury Bailiff Officer, L+D Coordinator, H+S roles.
* Processing casework including documentation, court orders, claims, fines, and legal aid.
* Checking and verifying documents, records, and accounts for compliance and quality standards.
* Collecting and assembling information for reports, warrants, statistics, etc.
* Performing calculations for statistical analysis and financial processing.
* Communicating with judiciary, court users, and external agencies to provide excellent customer service.
* Performing other duties as reasonably requested.
Skills & Qualifications
Five GCSE passes (grades A*-C) or NVQ Business Administration Level II or equivalent experience. Relevant computer skills required.
