Supply / Temporary Teaching Assistant - SEN Support (Primary)Location: Plymouth, Mainstream Primary SchoolJob Type: Temporary / SupplyHours: Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Friday: Morning onlyWe are seeking an experienced or confident Supply / Temporary Teaching Assistant to provide in-class support for a pupil with social and emotional regulation needs in a mainstream primary setting. This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who is calm under pressure, adaptable, and comfortable supporting emotional regulation.Day-to-day of the role:Provide flexible, emotionally attuned support to help the pupil access learning.Support regulation during difficult moments or transitions, particularly from preferred activities back to structured lessons.Use low-demand, non-confrontational approaches.Adjust communication style according to the pupil's emotional presentation.Work alongside visual supports and established classroom routines.Be able to move quickly between focused pupil support and supporting a group or table as needed.Work collaboratively with the class teacher to maintain learning across the class.Occasionally support another pupil in the class with additional needs.Required Skills & Qualifications:Calm, patient, and resilient personality.Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, or confidence in doing so.Comfortable in unpredictable or changeable situations.Able to remain consistent and supportive during periods of dysregulation.Ability to build positive relationships quickly and professionally.This role may not suit candidates who prefer highly structured, compliance-based behaviour management approaches.Why This Placement?This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys relationship-based support and making a meaningful difference.With the right approach, the pupil engages well and can access learning successfully.To apply for this Supply / Temporary Teaching Assistant position, please submit your CV and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you are interested in this role.
