Overview
Occupational Therapist - Surgery at NakedK9 Design, LLC. This is a Band 6/experience level role in colorectal surgery with involvement in prehabilitation services, working within an MDT to deliver acute inpatient rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Responsibilities
* Carry a caseload including initial and standardised OT assessments.
* Formulate client-centred goals and treatment plans for each patient on the caseload.
* Support learning and development through robust appraisal, supervision, and informal teaching.
* Develop staff management skills with opportunities to supervise and develop junior therapy staff and support workers; contribute to MDT teaching and training.
* Provide occupational therapy input in a colorectal surgery prehabilitation service, alongside specialist physiotherapist and dietician, and collaborate on discharge planning.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver effective rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent; HCPC registered.
* Comprehensive experience in an acute hospital setting with post-qualification rotations at Band 5 and Band 6 level.
* Experience working within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams; experience supervising staff and supporting learners.
* Experience managing risks related to lone working and working with occupational therapy students.
* Desirable: Membership of the College of Occupational Therapy; experience in NHS settings across Surgery, Respiratory, Medical, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and neurology; post-graduate development evidence.
Skills and Attributes
* Up-to-date clinical skills and comprehensive assessment abilities; strong communication, empathy, negotiation, and motivation.
* Good understanding of MDT roles and professional respect within the team.
* Analytical, reflective practitioner with portfolio evidence; teaching experience; computer literate; experience in clinical audit/research.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; handle stressful situations and maintain focus during treatments.
* Willingness to share knowledge and training with other health professionals.
