A leading manufacturer of advanced fibre-laser products is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join its Southampton team. This permanent role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to a growing, innovative business.
In this role, you will ensure the fibre-processing machines used for cleaving, splicing, tapering, and etching are running at their optimal performance, maintaining a smooth and reliable production process. You will help the production team solve day-to-day problems, identify the root causes of issues, and implement lasting fixes. Part of your work will involve checking and analysing production data, such as yield, scrap rates, and equipment effectiveness, and then using that information to improve quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
You will also work with the research and development team to introduce new products, equipment and processes. This includes finding ways to shorten production times, simplify builds and improve overall quality. You will track priorities and progress using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
We are looking for an individual with a minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably with fibre components, optics, or other precision work. You should be confident working with fibre-processing equipment, comfortable solving problems on the spot and able to work both independently and in a team. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methods would be an advantage.
This role is looking for:
-Experience in manufacturing
-Experience using fibre processing equipment
-Background in Fibre optics
