Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader of people to head our Public & Government Affairs (PGA) function in the UK & Ireland. With the gravitas to advise internal Leadership Teams and external stakeholders, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the political and policy environment to ensure patients and customers have access to our innovative products. This is a hybrid role based in our Bracknell Head Office. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Head of Corporate Affairs and business leaders in Human Pharma & Animal Health to set and execute the PGA strategy, aligning global and local priorities. Lead a team of 2 senior PGA managers, plus university intern. - Policy Monitoring: Stay ahead of political and legislative developments, providing timely insights and counsel to influence business planning decisions - Project Management: Lead strategic PGA projects that support our business objectives, working closely with externally facing colleagues in Corporate Affairs, Market Access, Healthcare Affairs & Patient Engagement - Stakeholder Engagement: Enhance our visibility and voice with political audiences and policy makers. Build and maintain strong relationships with key UK politicians, advisers, and policy stakeholders - Industry Collaboration: Represent Boehringer in trade associations and industry groups, ensuring our priority policy positions are well-represented - Advocacy Outreach: Prioritize and manage advocacy efforts with politicians and policymakers in Ireland and the devolved nations - Documentation & Budget Management: Oversee the development and approval of relevant documents and manage the Government Relations budget WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - E ducational Background: A degree is essential, with a post-graduate qualification preferred - Experience: Proven experience in a political or policy arena in the UK & Ireland or at the EU level - Advocacy Skills: A successful track record of implementing advocacy strategies to shape political or policy environments - Relationship Building: Ability to engage, influence, and inspire stakeholders at all levels, with existing relationships being a plus - Communication Skills: Excellent oral, written, and presentational skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly and engagingly - Organizational Skills: Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and ensure accuracy and attention to detail - Motivation: A highly motivated individual with experience leading cross-functional groups and collaborating externally - Agency Management: Experience managing external agencies and familiarity with the Veeva approval system is an advantage - Political Insight: Continuous monitoring and understanding of political and policy trends to support our business strategy WHY THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK Boehringer Ingelheim has been recognised as a Top Employer in the UK.
