About Us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Development and Regulatory Funding Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role sits at the heart of how National Grid develops major network investments and secures the regulatory funding needed to deliver them. Location: Warwick or London, with an expectation of two days per week in the office. As Great Britain transitions to a cleaner, more electrified energy system, timely investment in the transmission network has never been more important. This role will help shape how major projects are developed and progressed within the regulatory framework, supporting investment that delivers value for current and future consumers.

What You'll Do

You will help shape major network investments from an early stage, developing regulatory strategy, coordinating business input, and securing the funding approvals needed to progress projects in the interests of consumers. This will involve:

Securing the regulatory funding we need to deliver our major investments

* Work strategically to identify emerging portfolio-level funding risks and opportunities for National Grid
* Prepare high-quality regulatory submissions that clearly explain the case for investment and demonstrate value for current and future consumers
* Coordinate input from a wide range of stakeholders and drive timely, high-quality regulatory engagement

Providing regulatory expertise to National Grid colleagues

* Use your knowledge of the regulatory framework to provide guidance and challenge to colleagues, helping to shape emerging network investments
* Identify the most appropriate regulatory mechanisms for future submissions, giving the business confidence to progress major projects
* Advocate for the interests of current and future consumers throughout project development, helping to align investments with the regulatory framework from the outset

Managing key stakeholder relationships

* Build and maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders, including Ofgem, NESO, and relevant DNOs
* Develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including technical experts, regulatory strategy, and public affairs colleagues

What You'll Have

* Experience in energy policy or regulation, with a good understanding of the GB energy sector, its regulatory framework and key stakeholders.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of drafting complex submissions or papers for senior decision-makers.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a wide range of teams.
* An open and pragmatic mindset, with the confidence to tackle new challenges and work effectively in ambiguous or evolving contexts.
* A strong track record of managing the timely delivery of complex work, with a high level of attention to detail.
* Good commercial awareness, with the ability to understand value drivers and apply sound judgement in new contexts.
* An interest in developing knowledge of the electricity transmission system and major network investment.
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, or equivalent through education, training and experience.

What You'll Get

* A competitive salary of £64,000–£80,000 per annum, dependent on capability and experience.
* An annual bonus of up to 30% and annual pay review.
* A generous pension scheme — we double match your contribution up to 12%.
* 28 days’ annual leave plus the option to buy/sell up to 5 days per year.
* Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave – so long as it’s relevant to your role.
