Engineering Stores Controller

Staffline Recruitment is currently offering job for Engineering Stores Controller for our Client Cranswick based in Cullybackey.

Role Purpose

The Engineering Stores Controller is responsible for the effective management and operation of the Engineering Stores using the Pirana system. The role ensures accurate stock control, availability of critical engineering parts, and supports the reduction of downtime while maximising asset availability and production efficiency.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Maintain and operate the Engineering Stores using the Pirana system to drive effective stock control, usage, and provisioning.

2. Manage the day-to-day running of the Engineering Stores, including stock control, rotation, availability, and booking-out records.

3. Conduct regular stock checks (bi-annual and perpetual) and manage stock discrepancies.

4. Liaise daily with suppliers for stock replenishment and service requirements.

5. Support purchasing activities and cover Purchasing Clerk duties when required.

6. Ensure stock levels are maintained to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.

7. Ensure all activities comply with food safety, quality, legality, and company standards.

Key Performance Responsibilities

The role supports the Engineering Team in achieving KPI targets, including:

8. Accuracy and volume of stock issues

9. Reduction in incorrect stock issues

10. Stock checking accuracy

11. Stock variance values at stock checks

12. Management of order point items

13. Stock turnover, including slow-moving and obsolete stock

14. Stock criticality management

Key Accountabilities

15. Maintain the integrity of Engineering Stores and related activities through the Pirana system.

16. Support the Maintenance Manager in implementing stores initiatives using Pirana.

17. Promote effective use of the stores booking-out process by the engineering craft group.

18. Source stock items within buying team guidelines, considering cost and lead times.

19. Procure goods and services to ensure best value for Cranswick at all times.

20. Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives within the stores function.

21. Organise systems and databases to maintain high professional standards.

22. Maintain systems that interface with stores to track items under repair or on order.

23. Ensure all stores-related documentation is maintained for audit purposes.

24. Communicate daily with engineering staff regarding special stores requirements.

25. Provide administrative support to the Maintenance Manager when required.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

26. Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978.

27. Take reasonable care of personal health and safety and that of others.

28. Co-operate with the employer on all health and safety matters, including reporting incidents, near misses, hazards, and investigations.

29. Use PPE, equipment, and machinery correctly and as intended.

30. Adhere to all company health & safety policies, site rules, procedures, and instructions.

31. Uphold Cranswick's ethical policies and codes of conduct at all times.

Food Safety Responsibilities

32. Understand and comply with statutory, legal, customer, and company food safety requirements.

33. Ensure adherence to CCP monitoring, allergen management, glass control, complaints handling, label verification, integrity, and authenticity processes.

34. Maintain accurate food safety documentation relevant to the role.

Environmental Responsibilities

35. Support Cranswick Plc's Second Nature sustainability framework and environmental commitments.

36. Carry out all duties in an environmentally responsible manner.

37. Manage environmental issues in line with legal requirements and company environmental policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

38. Strong IT skills.

39. Proven knowledge of stores management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

40. Ability to work independently and use initiative.
