Job Overview:
We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and have experience of general administration. Essential skills include Microsoft Office. You will need to be organised, flexible and proactive, have excellent time-management skills and the ability work within a multi-disciplinary team. You will be patient focused and able to demonstrate the desire to succeed within a fast paced environment.
Your work will ensure our service remains excellent as you contribute effectively in a professional manner across the business. All systems training will be provided.
You will work with the aftercare team to manage inbound and outbound patient calls
You will report directly to the aftercare manager
Responsibilities
· On receipt of a patient call, search computerised patient records, checking patient details.
· Identify patients requiring an immediate response and refer to aftercare nurse immediately.
· Identify non-urgent concerns that will require escalation to a nurse and assure the patient that they will receive a call back from a nurse
· Respond to patients in a kind, considerate and professional manner and assure patients that their concerns are being listened to
· Be aware of own limitations of advice that can be provided to patients
· Complete the aftercare question form and be aware of the trigger responses where escalation to a nurse is required
· Understand the escalation process and why the escalation process is in place
· Ensure escalation to a nurse is communicated by email or phone call in a timely manner
· Provide a call back to patients if the nurse is unable to respond straight away, giving an approximate time of nurse call back
· Provide scheduled post-operative aftercare calls to patients using a set of populated questions, documenting responses in full on patient data base.
· Maintain and update patient records, accurately recording all events, details and actions on the workplace systems
· Understand how the functions of the role interlink and benefit that of others.
· Manage own workflow in a timely manner.
· Undertake reasonable training and remain current with knowledge.
· Complete mandatory training
· Work effectively as a member of the Team.
· Assist with general enquiries either by telephone or email communication and provide guidance relating to the patient aftercare pathway.
· Be aware of and follow GDPR policy
· Read and follow company policies and procedures
· General administrative tasks
· Maintaining a clean environment within work area
· Attendance at company meetings
· Liaising with surgeons and doctors in the absence of a nurse
