FIELD SCIENTIST (GRADUATE)

ERS is currently looking for a full-time Graduate Field Scientist to assist with our growing site investigation and remediation workload.

* Our services include:
* Environmental and geotechnical site investigation
* On-and-off-site remediation of contaminated soil
* Treatment of contaminated groundwater
* Invasive weeds survey and treatment
* The Role Involves
The role will be part site-based, for fieldwork, and part office-based. The role will initially be focused on field monitoring. Typical tasks will involve:
* Gas and groundwater monitoring and sampling
* Completion of chains of custody, sample scheduling, and liaison with laboratories
* Site data management
* Factual reporting
* Travelling, mostly in Scotland but throughout the UK on occasion
As experience develops, it is expected that the role would develop to incorporate data analysis and data interpretation to support ERS' remediation projects, with ERS specialists providing training and support. Typical tasks will involve:
* Data visualisation
* Review of external reports
* Waste classification
* Risk assessment: human health, water environment, occasionally gas/vapour
* Interpretative reporting
* Location
The successful applicant will be based in our Glasgow office.

* Who we're looking for
Our ideal candidate will have:
Your Qualifications:
* A minimum of a BSc in a relevant subject, e.g. Geology, Earth/Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, etc.
Experience:
* Experience of outdoor fieldwork would be beneficial
* Experience of data management/analysis in MS Excel would be beneficial
* Some experience of data visualisation or CAD/GIS would be beneficial
* Laboratory experience may be beneficial
However, this is a graduate role we will consider all levels of experience and provide all necessary training for the right candidate.
Essential Requirements:
* IT skills (MS Office)
* Great attention to detail
* Data management & analysis skills – good working knowledge of MS Excel
* Full UK Driving licence
* Fluency in English and the right to work in the UK
