Senior IT Technician
Grant Engineering (UK) Ltd is looking for a Senior IT Technician based in our Swindon office. This role manages day‑to‑day in‑house IT provision, including cyber security, network and server infrastructure, access management, asset management, user awareness and support for approximately 150 users plus a second satellite reserve site.
Primary Responsibilities
* Cyber & Physical Security:
o Manage both cyber and physical security of IT infrastructure with support from external IT providers as necessary.
o Setup and maintenance of security vulnerability and patch management tooling.
* Infrastructure Management:
o Manage day‑to‑day activities for in‑house IT provision, including network and server infrastructure, access management from first through third line support via the in‑house ticketing system. Ad‑hoc out‑of‑hours work may be required for maintenance that cannot be completed during office hours.
o Develop, maintain and regularly test the IT Business Continuity Plan to ensure resilience.
o IT Asset Management: procurement of new hardware and software, lifecycle management, inventory management, and management of IT peripheral stock levels.
o Management of company mobile telephony devices, including MDM and monthly monitoring of usage.
o Super‑user administration and support of SaaS business applications.
* Manage one junior support role and a number of third‑party suppliers; report to the Head of IT, Transformation and Facilities.
Required Skills
* Microsoft Active Directory Administration: users/groups, group policies, replication, Azure and M365 integration
* Network and Firewalls: knowledge of WAN IPsec tunnels, rule administration, upgrades and troubleshooting
* Server infrastructure: Microsoft Hyper‑V Administration, VM creation, backup/restore procedures
* Cloud Services: Microsoft 365 core application administration e.g., SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive
* Datto backup software management
* Proven, relevant, hands‑on experience at a senior technician level
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills
* Ability to cope under pressure, problem‑solve, and prioritise work accordingly
* Experience of supporting users with hybrid working arrangements
* Experience of line management
