Purpose of the role To provide free, high-quality haircuts and basic grooming services to residents experiencing homelessness. Your skills will help improve wellbeing, dignity, confidence, and self-esteem for individuals who may not otherwise have access to personal care services. Main responsibilities Provide haircuts, trims, and basic barber/hairdressing services to hostel residents. Create a welcoming, respectful, and non-judgemental environment. Maintain hygiene and safety standards, including proper sanitisation of tools. Communicate warmly and sensitively with residents, some of whom may have complex needs. Work collaboratively with hostel staff to ensure smooth running of sessions. Set up and pack away equipment before and after each session. Respect confidentiality at all times. Skills, experience and attitude needed Essential: Experience as a qualified or trained hairdresser/barber Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Friendly, patient, and compassionate attitude. Good communication skills Desirable: Experience working with vulnerable individuals or in community-based environments. Ability to adapt styles to clients with different needs.
