We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Liberty Blume team in Bradford (BD4). This hybrid role requires working in the office at least two days a week. As a Payroll Specialist, you will manage the payroll accounting function and ensure the accurate and timely processing of all employee payroll credit transfers, in compliance with statutory and company regulations. Your role will enhance customer effectiveness, efficiency, and confidence. You will ensure adherence to payroll governance and approvals, and oversee testing and authorisation before implementing payroll and reward-related software changes. Additionally, you will collaborate with the People Systems and Portfolio teams. What will you be doing? Oversee the simulation and processing of payroll accounting interfaces in compliance with statutory and company regulations. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all payroll credit transfers and emergency CHAPS payments for staff and pensioners. Verify that statutory deductions are correctly made and accounted for, and ensure all statutory returns are produced and dispatched on time. Provide high-quality advice and service to managers, employees, and external organisations. Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll-related legislation and statutory obligations. Stay informed about company and statutory changes, and implement necessary system updates in collaboration with IT and the People Systems & Portfolio Development team. Support projects aimed at improving payroll systems, processes, and procedures. Collaborate with IT and the Employee Services (PS) Systems team to implement necessary system changes. Test all software fixes, amendments, and enhancements. We tend to look for people with: Essential: CIPP Foundation Degree in Payroll Management or equivalent qualification/experience. Familiarity with statutory legislation related to income taxes, National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, Salary Sacrifice, Benefits in Kind, and Attachment of Earnings Orders. Experience in providing detailed and timely pay and management information advice. Proven track record in managing complex, high-volume pay processes. Knowledge of company pension schemes. Understanding of the interfaces between payroll, finance, and pensions. In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, including month-end and year-end activities. Strong interpersonal skills to manage conflicting priorities and ensure deadlines are met. Desirable : Accounting qualification with demonstrable payroll experience. Good working knowledge of process improvement methodologies/Six Sigma. Ability to support new payrolls in different jurisdictions at short notice.
