Job responsibilities
Participate in delivering individualised care to patients under the supervision of registered theatre practitioners. Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of patients at all times.
Provide feedback from patient interactions to Theatre Practitioners.
Prepare and clean Operating Theatres, associated areas, and equipment, including Anaesthetic rooms and recovery areas, ensuring readiness for procedures.
Transport patients between Wards and Theatre, assist with transfers to and from the operating table, and help position patients for surgery under supervision.
Assist in circulating duties during surgeries, check stock levels of sterile and non-sterile items, and support the application of monitoring and surgical equipment.
Maintain stock levels of medical gases, store and check supplies, and manage theatre linen and disposables.
Keep accurate records of theatre documentation under supervision.
Assist with stock taking, inventories, and control.
Handle courier tasks such as collecting items from pharmacy, specimens, and blood boxes.
Undertake instrument processing with sterilizers in emergencies.
Perform reception duties as needed.
Remove soiled linen, waste, and rubbish from theatres following policy.
Respond to telephone calls and take messages as per Theatre Policy.
Follow Health & Safety Fire Regulations, report hazards, and comply with all Trust/Theatre policies.
Attend training courses and participate in professional development.
Assist in teaching and assessing new staff.
Participate in annual appraisals.
Be flexible to cover sickness and work in different specialties as required.
Perform any other duties relevant to the role and discussed with the post holder.
