We are seeking an experienced Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to support a major infrastructure project during the construction phase. This role has two key elements: Acting as an independent EnvCoW to monitor and report on environmental compliance Acting as the clients environmental representative on site, overseeing inspections, audits, and contractor compliance The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring all environmental commitments, planning conditions, and regulatory requirements are fully adhered to throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Independent EnvCoW Duties Monitor compliance with environmental commitments and planning conditions Produce monthly reports summarising site activities and compliance Report any environmental non-compliances within required timeframes Undertake pre-construction ecological surveys and ongoing monitoring Maintain a register of inspections, audits, and environmental controls Provide environmental guidance and training to site teams Client Representative Duties Act as the environmental and consents representative on site Conduct site inspections and environmental audits Monitor contractor compliance with environmental legislation and management plans Support environmental incident reporting and investigations Attend regular meetings and provide weekly updates to stakeholders Ensure implementation of mitigation measures and environmental controls Project Scope Overview Construction of a major HVDC converter station and high-voltage substation Associated works including earthworks, drainage, access, landscaping, and infrastructure Multi-contractor environment requiring strong coordination and communication Qualifications Degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related discipline Relevant professional memberships (desirable)
