About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and confident Senior Social Worker to join the Ipswich North East Social Care Team based at Beacon House, Ipswich. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring office presence three days per week.
This is a key senior-level position within the team, combining high-quality statutory social work with leadership and supervisory responsibilities. You will play an integral role in supporting the Team Manager with oversight, guidance, and supervision of staff.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) of the Children Act.
Lead on and contribute to Child in Need (CIN) planning and Child Protection (CP) planning.
Manage complex cases, ensuring robust risk assessment and effective safeguarding interventions.
Provide supervision and professional oversight to less experienced social workers.
Support the Team Manager with quality assurance, case oversight, and practice development.
Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, policies, and performance expectations.
About You
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Social Worker who:
Has substantial experience in frontline children's social care.
Demonstrates strong knowledge and experience of s17 and s47 processes.
Has experience providing supervision and mentoring to staff (essential).
Is confident managing complex safeguarding and child protection cases.
Shows strong leadership, decision-making, and organisational skills.
Is SWE-registered and eligible to work in the UK.
Supervisory experience is essential, as this role includes direct supervision and support responsibilities.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working model.
3 days per week office-based at Beacon House, Ipswich.
