Job Introduction

We're recruiting a Senior Music Business Support colleague to join Milton Keynes City Council and play a vital role in supporting music education across the city. This role sits within Children's Services and supports the Music Service, which is part of the BLMK Music Hub. The Music Service is funded by the Department for Education via Arts Council England and has a wide brief across schools and out of school settings. The team supports music in schools, provides training for teachers and instrumental tutors, and runs a busy music centre offering high quality musical opportunities for young people. In this role, you'll provide high level business and administrative support that helps the Music Service meet its objectives and deliver inclusive, well organised provision for children, schools and partners. You'll be part of a collaborative team that works closely with schools, families and partners across the BLMK Music Hub to make music education accessible and effective.

Main Responsibility

* Provide high level administrative and business support to help the Music Service meet key performance indicators, with a focus on recruitment, funding and learner achievement.
* Act as a first point of contact for students, parents, schools and partners, supporting a positive experience across the BLMK Music Hub.
* Support senior colleagues and managers with diary management, timetabling, meetings and day to day service coordination within the Music Service.
* Manage and support business support apprentices and volunteers, helping the team deliver consistent and high quality support to learners and tutors.
* Oversee processes linked to funding compliance, music exams, finance transactions and data accuracy, ensuring council procedures are followed.
* Work flexibly across the Music Service and wider Children's Services team to support music activity in schools and community settings.

The Ideal Candidate

* Experience of providing high level administrative or business support within a complex service environment. Attention to detail is crucial for this role.
* Confidence in working with data, finance processes and digital systems to support accurate reporting and compliance.
* An understanding of inclusive practice and the barriers that learners and families can face when accessing education or services.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while supporting a busy music education team.
* A team focused approach, with the confidence to work independently and support colleagues across the BLMK Music Hub.

Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out as part of the pre-employment checks if offered the role.

Package Description

In addition to your salary, we offer a range of benefits including:

* Great holiday benefits - most roles include 28 days annual leave every year on top of public (bank) holidays, increasing to 32 days after five years. In addition, there is a holiday purchase scheme allowing staff to purchase up to 5 additional days of leave each year.
* Excellent pension - everyone who works for us can join the national Local Government Pension Scheme, widely regarded as one of the best available.
* A full range of family friendly policies including enhanced maternity, adoption and paternity support and a childcare subsidy.
* Access to an award-winning employee benefits programme that includes a health cash plan, a low‑cost bike purchase scheme as well as high street discounts and money off entertainment and travel.
* Salary sacrifice car scheme - low‑cost leasing of electric and low emission vehicles.
* Blue Light Card - employees working within social care can qualify for an additional range of discounts from national retailers and local businesses.

The role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home‑based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.

Our roles are either designated 'site based' or 'home based'. 'Site based' roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst 'home based' roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
