What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our systems. Your responsibilities will include:
* Technical Oversight: Lead the design decisions for CCS, supporting the Engineering Manager in delivering in-service programmes.
* Project Leadership: Control project scope, manage design changes, and engage with stakeholders and suppliers to identify risks early.
* Design Reviews: Coordinate stakeholders, manage design baselines, and produce Certificates of Design while ensuring governance.
* Requirements Review: Influence technical requirements and architectural design for seamless system integration.
* Expertise Sharing: Provide specialist knowledge in the integration, validation, and verification of systems.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* Extensive experience in network or software engineering, ideally with a background in operations.
* Proven ability to lead on technical matters and provide expert guidance.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
* Specialist expertise in Combat Systems, particularly related to submarines, is advantageous.
* Familiarity with DOORS and hands-on experience using it.
* Proven experience in change management processes.
Desirable:
* Systems Engineering (INCOSE) qualifications.

The Team:
Join the In-Service Programme team, working on the V Class. Thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality results within tight timelines. You’ll be part of a core team of 6-12, collaborating with a wider group of around 30, engaging with a broad stakeholder network. This role demands strong technical leadership, problem-solving skills, and proactive engagement with stakeholders. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates across all Submarines roles.
