The service is highly regarded and received national recognition as the Howard League Liaison and Diversion Team of the Year.
Funded by NHS England, we have 3 teams based at Wakefield, Leeds, and Bradford Police Stations, covering Leeds and Bradford Magistrates and Crown Courts. The teams aim to:
* Improve access to healthcare and support services
* Reduce inequalities in healthcare
* Improve decision making in the justice system
* Reduce reoffending
Main duties of the job
The role of Mental Health Practitioner involves identifying vulnerable individuals, providing assessments, preparing reports for Courts, linking with mental health providers, and supporting access to services. You will have opportunities to develop your clinical practice with diverse mental health and social vulnerabilities, supported by training and supervision.

Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification and registration (e.g., RMN, Learning Disability Nurse)
* Degree level education or equivalent
* Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
* Meet professional registration requirements
Experience
* Experience engaging with service users and carers
* Experience in mental health or Learning Disabilities with difficult-to-engage individuals
* Knowledge of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding)
Knowledge
* Knowledge of engaging and assessing individuals with complex needs
* Experience with risk assessment and care planning
* Understanding of the criminal justice system and court liaison roles
