Assisting Greenkeeping\nâ¢\tAssist with the daily maintenance and preparation of the golf course to a high playing standard.\nâ¢\tMow greens, tees, fairways, and rough in accordance with the course maintenance schedule.\nâ¢\tAssist with top dressing, aeration, fertilising, and overseeding of all playing surfaces.\nâ¢\tRepair divots, pitch marks, bunkers, and other wear-and-tear areas.\nâ¢\tAssist in identifying and controlling weeds, pests, and diseases, escalating issues to the Head Greenkeeper.\nâ¢\tSupport the maintenance of trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas on the golf course.\nâ¢\tAssist with irrigation, including operating systems and reporting faults or leaks.\nâ¢\tAccurately mark out hazards, ground under repair, and course signage when required.\nâ¢\tAssist with course projects such as path work, drainage, and tree planting.\nâ¢\tChange holes and move tee markers as directed.\nâ¢\tSafely operate all golf course maintenance machinery and vehicles.\nâ¢\tCarry out basic machinery checks, cleaning, and routine maintenance, reporting defects promptly.\nâ¢\tAssist in assessing course playability and communicating any issues to the Head Greenkeeper.\nâ¢\tTo make a decision on golf course playability in Head Greenkeeperâs absence. \nâ¢\tTo have a good knowledge, understanding and passion for the game of golf. \nâ¢\tTo handle difficult situations and pass information on to senior levels where necessary. \n\nManaging Relationships \nâ¢\tDevelop and maintain relationships with all departments within the company to ensure there is a good flow of communication and understanding of customer expectations to ensure that service meets expectations. \nâ¢\tEstablish and maintain good customer relationships at all levels.\nâ¢\tAct as an ambassador for the company at all times.\nâ¢\tFully understand the many facets of the business and structure in order to value different requirements and act with diplomacy to achieve the best possible outcome. \nâ¢\tTo assist all visitors and clients by passing on messages correctly and in good time, providing assistance wherever possible and immediately seeking assistance when necessary.\nâ¢\tTo make recommendations where appropriate in the provision of improved customer service.\n\nHealth and Safety Management \nâ¢\tAdvise on safety aspects in the use of equipment and systems of work. - HOD\nâ¢\tWhere necessary, investigate the causes of accidents, the circumstances leading to them and compile the necessary reports, providing corrective advice to prevent recurrence.\nâ¢\tTo adhere to health and safety regulations and safe working practices \n 1. Turfgrass and Grounds Management\n\nThey would learn how to:\nMaintain golf greens, tees, fairways, and rough to playing standards.\nMow different playing surfaces using the correct techniques and equipment.\nApply and understand:\nTop dressing\nAeration\nFertilisation\nOverseeding\nRepair turf damage such as divots and pitch marks.\nIdentify common turf weeds, pests, and diseases.\nUnderstand basic plant and soil health.\nCare for trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas.\nAssist with irrigation systems and water management.\n\n2. Golf Course Setup and Maintenance\nThey would gain experience in:\nChanging hole locations and moving tee markers.\nBunker maintenance and presentation.\nMarking hazards and ground under repair according to golf rules.\nAssessing course conditions and playability.\nSupporting drainage, path construction, and tree-planting projects.\nUnderstanding how course setup affects the playing experience.\n\n3. Machinery and Equipment Skills\nThey would learn to:\nOperate golf course machinery safely, such as:\nGreens mowers\nFairway mowers\nRough mowers\nUtility vehicles\nAerators\nTop dressers\nCarry out daily machinery inspections.\nPerform basic maintenance and cleaning.\nIdentify mechanical faults and report them correctly.\nFollow safe operating procedures.\n\n4. Overall, it's a practical apprenticeship in maintaining a high-quality golf course while learning technical, operational, and management skills. â¢\t\tFull, clean driving licence (preferred)\nâ¢\t\tPA1, PA2 and PA6 Spraying Certificates (desirable but not essential)\nâ¢\t\tPractical knowledge of golf course maintenance operations\nâ¢\t\tUnderstanding and interest in the game of golf\nâ¢\t\tPrevious experience in a Greenkeeping or grounds maintenance role\nâ¢\t\tAbility to safely operate and maintain golf course machinery\n
