UKI Business Consulting – Life Sciences, Senior Manager (Commercial Strategy and Market Access and/or R&D Medical)
The opportunity
Life Sciences is a rapidly growing sector in EY Ireland. Within this area, we are building significant Life Sciences Commercial, Market Access, R&D Medical capability, with an ambition to become the leading Life Sciences Strategy practice in Ireland. The role focuses on the Life Sciences R&D Medical, Commercial and Market Access value chain with a strong portfolio of offerings for Pharmaceutical/Biotech/Med Tech organisations. The role operates as part of the Health Sciences & Wellness team and holds the specific accountabilities described below.
Joining the Life Sciences team as a Senior Manager offers the opportunity to accelerate your career in Life Sciences business consulting, shape EY’s direction in Life Sciences, lead innovation in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medtech sector, and contribute to significant changes within health systems facing affordability and delivery challenges. The role requires a hybrid skill set combining life sciences strategy, qualitative and quantitative problem solving, with creative intuition and a growth mindset.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspire and lead multiple clients and project teams, ensuring understanding of challenges across the commercial value chain and delivering high-quality insights through critical thinking
* Supervise day-to-day work of multiple teams and coordinate with Life Sciences Practice Directors/Partners to ensure output quality
* Engage with clients to resolve challenges in franchise/portfolio/disease strategy and asset positioning; business development, medical strategy, launch excellence; market access, pricing and reimbursement strategies; and delivering innovative health care solutions
* Recommend technology platforms, digital/AI solutions, or business transformation to support biopharmaceutical clients in bringing high-value therapies to patients globally
* Build trusted relationships with new and existing clients and identify opportunities within projects and across client organizations
* Support client proposals, pitches, and business growth as required
* Lead new business proposals, including scoping projects, defining approaches, and resource requirements
* Support Practice Directors/Partners in recruitment and resource allocation
* Develop and deliver specialist training to embed EY methodologies
* Contribute to practice thought leadership through writing and speaking engagements
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in traditional management consulting and/or Global Pharmaceutical/Biotech/Med Tech organisations
* Experience in leading and implementing innovative strategies in core areas such as R&D, Medical, Commercial Strategy; Pricing, Reimbursement and Market Access; Digital Therapeutics; Real World Evidence; Innovative Contracting; New Product Planning and Business Development & Licensing
* Comfort in a consulting role with client-facing experience, including leading workshops and delivering strategic recommendations
* Experience working in global multidisciplinary teams and across regions/countries
* Experience in thought leadership (writing or speaking engagements)
Desirable
* MBA or Advanced Degree in Health Economics, Health Policy and/or Pharmaceutical Sciences (preferred but not mandatory)
* Proficiency in English; additional languages desirable
* Willingness to travel and work overseas
