Pay Rate: £14.50 – £15.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Contracted Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Chef to join our dedicated care home team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that support the health and well-being of our residents. Working 37.5 hours per week on a rota that includes every other weekend, you'll play a vital role in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare, and cook meals in line with menu plans and residents' dietary requirements
* Ensure all meals are nutritious, appealing, and appropriate for individual dietary needs (e.g., soft diets, diabetic-friendly, allergens)
* Liaise with care staff and healthcare professionals to ensure resident nutrition is fully supported
* Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times, following food hygiene and safety regulations
* Manage food stock, ordering supplies as needed, and minimising waste
* Keep accurate records, including food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and dietary notes
* Supervise and support kitchen assistants when required
* Assist in menu development to ensure variety and balance
* Comply with all COSHH, HACCP, and health & safety procedures
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a chef, ideally within a care home or healthcare setting
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 preferred)
* Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs, especially for older adults
* Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritise tasks
* A caring, respectful, and team-oriented attitude
* Flexibility to work alternate weekends as part of the rota
* Desirable- understanding of Salt requirements
