This role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead a large, diverse team and shape the delivery of high‑quality residential services across the University of Warwick’s extensive accommodation portfolio. As Residence Manager, you’ll take ownership of both day‑to‑day operations and long‑term planning, ensuring an efficient, customer‑focused service for thousands of students while driving improvements in quality, compliance, sustainability, and staff development.
You’ll play a key role in major operational events like Welcome Week, manage resources and budgets, collaborate with multiple departments, and influence service standards across campus. Candidates will value this role for its broad scope, genuine leadership impact, and the chance to innovate within a supportive, people‑centred environment where their work directly enhances the student experience.
The role is 36.5 hours, working 5 days per week, including occasional weekends and evenings as required for business needs.
What We’re Looking For
* A confident, proactive leader with proven experience managing large, diverse teams (50+ staff) in accommodation, facilities, hospitality, or similar service‑driven environments.
* Highly organised and calm under pressure, able to coordinate complex, multi‑site operations and respond quickly to changing circumstances.
* A people‑focused manager who excels in coaching, motivating, developing, and supporting staff, while effectively handling HR responsibilities such as performance management, absence, grievances, and recruitment.
* A strong communicator who engages well with staff, students, contractors, and senior stakeholders, delivering clear briefings, holding effective meetings, and maintaining open communication channels.
* Someone with a keen eye for detail, committed to maintaining and improving high cleaning and service standards through regular inspections and quality checks.
* Customer‑centred, understanding student needs and committed to delivering an exceptional residential and community experience within the accommodation portfolio.
* A proactive problem‑solver who uses initiative, finds solutions quickly, and drives continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
* Financially aware, confident in managing budgets, resource planning, authorising hours, monitoring costs, processing invoices, and overseeing additional service charges.
* A collaborative team player who works effectively with other Residence Managers and key departments (Security, Estates, Residential Life, Conferences, etc.) to support smooth operations across campus.
* Someone who takes ownership of compliance, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of health & safety, UUK Code of Practice requirements, and audit expectations.
* A values‑driven individual who promotes positive behaviours, team culture, inclusion, and alignment with Estates Values, while encouraging innovation and ideas from the team.
* Comfortable managing logistics such as rotas, stock control, key security, maintenance tracking, and conference accommodation planning.
