Transport Manager Location: Ashington & Cramlington (North East) Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience) Start: ASAP A growing logistics business is seeking a Transport Manager to oversee operations across two warehouse sites in Ashington and Cramlington. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional or someone ready to step up into management. Transport Manager Requirements: CPC Holder: Essential for legal operation of an HGV fleet FLT Licence and Class 1 (HGV) Licence: Highly desirable, ideally enabling hands-on support when required Experience from a small to mid-size logistics, haulage, or warehouse operation, with a practical, hands-on approach Confident using transport planning software (e.g. Transporeon, Mandata) and Excel Strong knowledge of VOSA compliance, drivers' hours regulations, and tachograph rules Capable of managing drivers and warehouse staff, including rotas, holidays, and performance matters Transport Manager Responsibilities Oversee daily transport operations for a fleet of up to 20 articulated lorries and a small number of vans across two sites Liaise with customers, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure efficient and timely deliveries Maintain vehicle service records and ensure compliance with MOTs, inspections, and legal requirements Manage driver hours, tachograph data, and compliance with the Working Time Directive Plan routes, allocate loads, and monitor fuel usage and costs Utilise Excel and transport management systems to produce reports on costs, performance, and efficiency The Right Person Likely from a practical logistics background, comfortable being visible and hands-on within the operation May have progressed from a driver, team leader, or supervisory role into management A confident communicator able to engage both drivers and senior management Calm under pressure, solutions-focused, and adaptable Ex-forces backgrounds are welcomed, particularly those with CPC and transport experience Who This Role Might Suit An experienced Transport Manager looking for a role in a smaller, more hands-on operation A Transport Supervisor or Assistant Transport Manager ready to step up A current HGV driver with CPC and good IT skills who's seeking to move into a managerial role An ex-military logistics specialist looking to transition into a commercial transport environment To be considered: Please either apply online or email me directly at georgia.bloor@hirecracker.com.
