Key Duties and Responsibilities - Assistant Accountant Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and assist with compiling management accounts. Help with the review of actual vs budget figures and provide initial commentary on key variances. Assist in performing routine balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain the fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions and running depreciation reports. Prepare and post routine month-end journals such as accruals, prepayments, and adjustments. Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering data and updating templates. Assist with year-end reporting requirements and provide documentation for external audits. Help ensure compliance with VAT returns, Intrastat submissions, and other statutory filings. Provide financial information and support to other departments as directed by senior team members. Work under the guidance of the Management Accountant to ensure deadlines are met. Liaise with external auditors and other stakeholders by supplying requested schedules and reports. Support improvements to financial processes and assist with ERP/data system updates as needed. Provide occasional assistance to accounts payable and receivable teams during busy periods. Perform other finance-related duties as required by the Finance Manager or Management Accountant.
