The Technical Academy offers hands-on production training for individuals with little or no experience, taught by industry professionals. Successful applicants will receive a grant, removing financial barriers.
Interested in a career in Technical Production? Want to learn what it involves?
The three-week training program provides an introduction to backstage work in creative venues, covering tasks like building stages, rigging lights, designing sound, and visual effects. It's a chance to learn the basics, observe technicians, and understand how to start working in the industry.
Schedule:
* Monday 6th January - Friday 24th January 2025, 09:00 - 18:00
* Optional evening and weekend shadowing until 2 February.
Activities include:
* Getting close to technical production in iconic London venues
* Meeting technicians and observing their work
* Learning health and safety protocols and teamwork
* Understanding how to find work and start a career
Course tasks may involve physical activities like lifting equipment, rigging, operating desks, and setting up gear.
Participants will receive:
* A grant covering training costs, lunch, and travel within London zones 1–6
Provided tools include:
* All necessary equipment and PPE (boots, gloves, hard hat, hi-vis jacket)
Purpose:
* To raise awareness about careers in Technical Production and encourage diverse participation
