We’re about to relaunch our Union – and we want you to be part of it! As the representative body for over 30,000 students at the University of Wolverhampton, ensuring our students have the support they need to thrive at university is important to us, and we’re hiring an Advice Centre Manager to help us make it happen. Our Advice and Representation Centre works with over 1,000 students each year, offering free, confidential, impartial advice on a range of issues that affect students while they’re at university – from academic complaints to housing, finances and their wellbeing. We're proud to be accredited with the Advice Quality Standard in recognition of the work our amazing team do in what are often some of the most difficult periods in students’ time at university.
You’ll provide calm and supportive leadership to an outstanding team that combines the specialist expertise and strong sense of justice which make our work possible. Alongside providing supervision for their more challenging cases, you’ll coordinate the development support they need to keep flourishing in their roles. We also know that the regulation surrounding higher education can be complex and it’s vital that we get it right when giving advice to students. As Advice Centre Manager, you’ll be our in-house expert on changing regulation, keeping your team and the wider organisation up to date on what it means for students.
Life isn’t getting any easier for our students, and every year our reputation for high quality support means more students look to us for advice and guidance. As Advice Centre Manager, you’ll always be looking for ways to rise to the challenge this presents without compromising on the quality of our service. From supporting the team to create resources to help students to help themselves before their problems reach crisis point, to making it easier and quicker to provide high quality advice, you’ll lead on finding sustainable ways to increase our impact.
As Advice Centre Manager, you’ll always have the right support around you to do your job well and will see the positive impact you’re having on students in real-time, directly contributing to a fairer, more student-friendly experience for all 30,000+ of our student members.
Experience of giving advice or completing casework in a client-facing service is essential for this role, as you’ll have your own small caseload alongside providing supervision for your team.

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we’ll only be proceeding with applications where these skills shine through. This means we want to hear your voice in your application, even if it means there are spelling mistakes and grammatical errors!
