Job Title: Java Developer – Glasgow

About the Job you are considering:

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to build, enhance, and maintain high-performing, scalable applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java technologies, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role:

1. Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based applications
2. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices
3. Analyze business and user requirements to deliver effective technical solutions
4. Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and web services
5. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues; enhance existing systems
6. Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams
7. Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
8. Optimize application performance, quality, and responsiveness
9. Design and optimize database queries and schemas

Your Skills:

10. Strong experience in Core Java (Java 8 or later)
11. Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
12. Hands-on experience with the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
13. Proven experience in RESTful API development and integration
14. Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
15. Experience with Hibernate/JPA for ORM
16. Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
17. Proficiency in Git or other version control systems
18. Experience working with build tools like Maven or Gradle
