Job Summary
SO2 IM is local data protection advisor (LDPA) for the entirety of the training group. They hold responsibility for investigating all data breaches, and ensure that any LI’s get implemented to improves processes giving Comd DITG the appropriate assurance against DPA 18. This includes the staffing of Subject Access Request into the DI Secretariat. SO2 IM is responsible for records management including the assurance that DITG is compliant against statutory legislation and that any requests from the DI Secretariat for Record Preservation Orders are met in line with timelines. SO2 IM is the Freedom of Information focal point for the receipt of any FOI requests. Similarly to SAR requests there is a 30 day limit to respond to FOI requests making the post critical.

Job Description

The IMgr advises and supports the Senior Information Officer (SIO) and is responsible for ensuring that information is being captured, stored, distributed, used, retained, and eventually disposed of, in accordance with the legal requirements, MOD policy and appropriate corporate guidance. The job includes:
Undertake line management, mentoring and countersigning tasks as required by the role.
Maintaining familiarity with Defence, TLB & HLB IM policies, directives, protocols and plans, including TLB or HLB-mandated maturity targets. Ensuring that these are appropriately understood by DITG staff at all levels.
Producing, managing and implementing the DITG IM plan, including appropriate tracking of IM activities.
Providing practical support to the Information Asset Owner (IAO) and SIO in order to deliver and demonstrate improving IM maturity across DITG, including through the maintenance of a comprehensive Information Asset Register (IAR) and Third Party Supplier Register (TPS), which is regularly audited and reviewed.
Compiling information returns on behalf of the IAO and SIO, as tasked by the HLB Information Governance Team (IGT), including the bi-annual IAO report to the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO).
Designing and managing the DITG information storage requirements, including electronic and physical storage, file and data-structures, Sharepoint and other electronic document & record management systems, including metadata, access rights and permissions.
Ensuring that Information Assets containing personal information are properly identified and managed and that access is properly controlled. Ensuring that Data Protection Impact Assessments are produced and managed.
Ensuring and assuring that adequate processes are in place across DITG to create, keep, and manage records (including operational and historical records) in accordance with JSP 441.
Engage with your own learning and development programme through the appropriate IM training, and additional training in support of upskilling yourself and line management training.

Person specification
The ideal candidate has experience with managing large amounts and various types of data. They are creative in managing the data, designing the most appropriate way to meet business needs. The ideal candidate is a self starter and can prioritise. They should be comfortable briefing upwards and downwards as well as articulating technical solutions to stakeholders.
