Management Accountant: Permanent, full-time (40 hours). Flexible start/finish times.
Location: Bedminster, Bristol.
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum.
A unique opportunity has arisen at Bloomsbury Leisure Group, a fast-growing hospitality business operating competitive socialising sites, pubs, bars, youth hostel and commercial and residential properties across Bristol, London and Manchester. We are moving the finance function in house, building our team from scratch, and are looking for a Management Accountant to be based at our finance department in Bristol, with full responsibility for our London sites.
As Management Accountant, you will prepare multiple sets of monthly management accounts in a timely manner with accurate cut-off and explanation of major variances. You will also prepare twice monthly payment runs, be the main point of contact for supplier queries and resolving disputes, and manage an individual (potential to increase) who is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, comprising purchase and sales ledgers. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of the accounting for several limited companies and be involved with new sites as they are established.
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic all-rounder who understands month-end accounting principles and is looking to enhance their own knowledge and skill set. Full training provided.
Your job will include:
· Preparation of monthly management accounts and commentary
· Supplier run preparation twice monthly
· Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
· Credit card analysis/reconciliation
· Monitoring the shared finance mailbox
· Handling queries from site managers and suppliers/customers
· Managing the Accounts Assistant and assisting with any queries on the day-to-day bookkeeping, including;
o Daily bank reconciliations
o Sales invoice processing/receipt allocations
o Purchase invoice processing
o Supplier statement reconciliations
· Assisting with additional ad hoc tasks as required
About you:
· 1+ years of experience within a finance function and basic understanding of month end accounting principles
· Minimum of AAT level 2 qualification, ideally level 3.
· Accurate and efficient data entry
· Good attention to detail and able to spot anomalies
· Highly organised with strong time management
· Ability to work autonomously once trained as well as part of a team
· Confident and approachable in person, over email and the telephone
· Willingness to learn
· Previous experience using Xero software would be beneficial
· Competent with Microsoft Excel, Word and IT in general
· Respect for confidential information
