Job Title: Services - Site Engineer
Location: Derby with various travel to site
Shifts: Days Mon-Fri with flexibility to work weekends when required
Salary: 40 - 42k per year depending on experience
Expenses: Travel and accommodation when required
This is a site-based role requiring strong organisational and interpersonal skills. The candidate will work autonomously and as part of a team, responsible for delivering individual targets. They will proactively ensure that services are delivered on time, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards.
The role involves broad thinking to consider the impact of decisions and to deliver successful projects. It is both technical and practical.
Principal Duties
This role primarily acts as the SPC (Site Person in Charge) and as a member of the installation team as needed.
The candidate will report to the DB ESG Project Manager daily during installations, providing progress updates.
Key Requirements
HSQE
* Ensure activities follow the method statement.
* Be responsible for team health and safety on site.
* Comply with safety regulations and legislation.
* Maintain a tidy workplace and manage waste disposal.
* Manage team fatigue.
Delivery
* Meet project delivery plans and complete all records/documentation.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager on progress.
* Work proactively with depot management for vehicle availability.
* Support the install team physically if required.
* Handle final testing and sign-off of installations.
Responsibilities
* Complete and distribute vehicle record sheets.
* Ensure availability of materials and consumables, reporting shortages.
* Assess competence of subcontractors.
* Manage attendance, timesheets, and onsite presence.
Quality
* Ensure installations meet design and client requirements.
* Coordinate with the Project Engineer on technical issues.
* Perform checks on critical work for consistency.
* Maintain tools and equipment properly.
* Protect client assets during installation.
Person Requirements
* Qualified in manufacturing, e.g., apprentice-trained fitter/electrician.
* Experience in vehicle modification in a rail environment.
* Engaged with supply chain, materials, and labor suppliers.
* Ability to develop team and client relationships.
* Leadership and motivation skills.
* Effective communication skills at all levels.
* Experience working in a rail depot environment.
* Proficient in using laptops and IT tools.
* Flexible and trustworthy.
