Specialist SEN Teacher – Autism (Complex & Pre-Verbal) Location: Buckinghamshire Start Date: September 2025 Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (UET1) Are you a dedicated SEN teacher with a deep understanding of complex autism and a passion for helping pre-verbal learners thrive? A specialist SEN setting in Buckinghamshire is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team. The school supports children with profound autism, many of whom are pre-verbal, and provides a nurturing, structured environment tailored to individual needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a proven track record of delivering meaningful progress in a highly specialist setting. The Role As an SEN Teacher, you will: * Plan and deliver personalised lessons for pupils with complex needs and limited or no verbal communication * Create structured, consistent routines to reduce anxiety and support engagement * Use a range of communication methods, including PECS, Makaton, Sign-Along, and visual supports * Embed sensory regulation strategies into the daily timetable * Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and support staff * Lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants to deliver high-quality care and education * Monitor and report on pupil progress, contributing to EHCPs and review meetings What We’re Looking For * A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with proven experience in SEN * Specific experience supporting pre-verbal children with complex autism * Confident in using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) * Skilled in working with sensory processing needs and behavioural support strategies * A calm, patient, and consistent approach * Committed to child-centred practice and safeguarding at all times About Us Uniform Education is a specialist recruitment agency with 10 years of experience supporting mainstream and special education schools.
