Project Director
Location: UK-West Midlands-Birmingham
Reporting to the Regional Director/BU MD, the Project Director will help tender and win schemes in excess of £100m. Generally involved from tender stage, as the project lead, liaising with the Estimating team to secure the project. Thereafter with the approval of the Regional Director / Regional MD, will prepare the PEP and build the project team in preparation for the contract commencement. The Project Director will be responsible for managing the Company’s business interests, risk & delivery strategy on the contract to guide the project to Commercial success.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction
1. Lead the Tender Team consisting of Estimator, CM, QS, other appropriate staff and external consultants as necessary
2. Manage the production of the tender to ensure that a competitive tender is submitted in accordance with the requirements
3. Prepare the programme, method statements, prelims and submission document
4. Chair start-up & internal meetings, prepare the procurement strategy with the QS and Prequalification of key supply chain (early awards)
5. Prepare a preliminary Risk Register and mitigate/manage any risks for the duration of the project
6. Work with the SQS to prepare a prelim procurement schedule and track same
Construction
7. Arrange the start-up meeting and manage the preparation of the PEP
8. Receive, distribute and acknowledge the letter of intent
9. Agree commencement date, and arrange for completion of the contract documents
10. Ensure that all aspects of quality, the Environment and progress are in accordance with the contracted requirements
11. Assist in the selection and vetting of major S/Cs and suppliers (including HSEQS vetting)
Post Construction
12. Ensure a customer centric aftercare service is in place for the client
13. Complete the project data sheet and gather reference from the client
14. Protect Sisk’s contractual position by ensuring that the Client & design teams are satisfied and that there is a strong relationship with future potential in place
15. Obtain the defects list and remedy any items to obtain the Certificate of Making Good Defects. Timely engagement with client
Qualifications:
16. Working knowledge of Construction techniques, Design techniques & BIM modelling
17. Comprehensive knowledge of Building and Health and Safety/Fire regulations
18. Familiarity with working on complex, multi-disciplinary, technical projects
19. Proficient in planning and prioritising daily site tasks
20. Ability to hold people to account in terms of implementing Sisk Zero philosophy
21. Ability to identify, convert and deliver business development opportunities.
22. Experience managing key accounts through their network, profile and credibility in the local market.
23. Academic and/or professional industry related management qualification
24. Membership of an Industry related Professional Institution - such as MCIOB or CEng MICE
25. CVRs, PEP and Contract Management
26. IOSH for Directors, CDM/PSCS Awareness, BBS, Root Cause Analysis & S5 & Q10 internal workshops.
