Job Purpose: To work alongside the nurses in Cambridge to support them in managing the medical centre and providing day-to-day healthcare. Key Responsibilities: Provision of healthcare To ensure that high-quality and effective care is provided to both students and staff To observe and monitor the wellbeing of students and report any different changes in their physical, mental or emotional behaviours to the School Nurses for further observation. To welcome staff and students to the Medical Centre in a friendly, reassuring & accommodating manner, responding to enquiries efficiently To maintain an environment that meets the needs of the student To sustain student confidentiality and be sensitive to personal health concerns To actively support the holistic well-being of all students To support the Nurses in developing provision for healthcare and wellbeing, to ensure day-to-day student needs are met. To maintain the cleanliness of the Medical Centre, ensuring that the correct sanitation is used in line with current guidelines To liaise with external agencies as deemed appropriate by the Nurses To store medical supplies and drugs effectively To arrange Boarding house visits, as directed by the Nurses Administration: To organise medical appointments, ensuring that the Nurses are briefed in advance of a student's health before the appointment To ensure medical information and all relevant reports are electronically stored and up to date To adhere to statutory Health & Safety Legislation. To work collaboratively with staff to organise First Aid training for relevant staff and electronic storage of valid qualification records To ensure stocks of cleaning, pharmaceutical and clinical goods are maintained, and to order as required To ensure comprehensive notes and records are made in relation to incidents/accidents, and reported to relevant staff as necessary within the appropriate confines of confidentiality To register new boarders with the local surgery To distribute First Aid supplies throughout the region as required To co-ordinate the transport/escort of students to outpatient appointments if necessary To maintain general office supplies General Uphold the company's values and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Person Specification: Education & Training Relevant Healthcare Assistant qualification (or equivalent) Experience: Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant Administrative experience Skills and Competencies: Excellent spoken English Excellent IT Skills Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively Knowledge of Healthcare provisions, treatment and medicine Understanding of the importance of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children Able to relate well to students and to take a real interest in their personal development A kind and calm disposition Approachability, confident demeanour and ability to empathise Ability to think independently and express views confidently and constructively Decisiveness and initiative Flexibility to adjust to change and development Ability to remain calm in emergencies Desirable: First aid trained Relevant healthcare training Experience of working with young people/children in the medical or education sector
