We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our GP Practice Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing multi-disciplinary team who are focused on improving medicines optimisation, safety and patient care within the GP Practice.
You will play a vital role in providing technical medical management services to the Practice to improve the uses of medication.
You will also provide a range of medicines management skills to our patients, as well as liaising with Practitioners and Practice staff to ensure that patients are provided with the most cost effective medicines and that they get the best from their medications.
Main duties of the job
* To provide advice and support to GP's staff and Patients in the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
* To assist with audits and medication safety initiatives
* Help our Practice Staff with medication queries
* Support Quilty Improvement projects and prescribing initiatives across the Practice and PCN

Job responsibilities
Manageand support safe, effective repeat prescribing processes across the GP Surgery.
Identifyand help resolve medication-related issues, escalating as appropriate.
Providepatient education and support regarding medicines use, storage, and disposal.
Workwith GPs, practice nurses, social prescribers, and mental health professionalsto ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
Toreduce waste, minimize risk and improve repeat prescription process.
Todeal with non-routine, non-clinical medication queries that require follow upand problem-solving techniques
Reviewmedicines safety alerts and other alerts distributed on the cascade system,recommend and implement necessary actions arising from these .
Toundertake practice based ICB and PCN project work to make cost savings on theprescribing budget
Torespond to medication queries from staff in a professional manner and deal withthese in a timely manner.
Providemedicines optimization advice to the team to promote the safe, effectivequality and cost-effective use of medicines.
Review data reports and dashboards to identifyareas for action
Carryout housekeeping whilst in patients records such as medicines synchronization
Participatein Practice Education meetings to promote issues relevant to prescribing andmedicines optimization to QOF and enhanced services.
Takea central role in the clinical aspects of Shared Care protocols
Supportthe Practice with the initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce theinappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
Supportthe implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within the GPPractice setting. This will be achieved through undertaking clinical auditssupporting quality improvement measures and.
Stayup to date with current policies and procedures.
DevelopPractice SOPs and guidelines under the instruction and support of the leadGP.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in General Practice, PCN or Medicines Optimisation Team.
* Working in a community, hospital, or primary care pharmacy setting as a Pharmacy Tech
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, IT-literate (e.g. EMIS, SystmOne), organised and methodical
* Good understanding of medicines management, repeat prescribing
* Knowledge of QOF, IIF, and structured medication reviews
* Understanding of long-term condition pathways, and NICE guidance
Qualifications
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
